World Youth Skills Day 2022
This Friday is World Youth Skills Day and here at Bridge we think it’s incredibly important to shine a light on this particular subject, especially after the last few years.
Statistically, young people are around three times more likely to be unemployed than adults, and are constantly exposed to lower quality jobs, inequalities within the market and generally a tougher time with regards to job searches. This is a challenge for young people anyway, but now more so than ever. There’s no doubt that it is a lot more difficult for young people to leave school and go straight into employment, and we feel more needs to be done to prepare these students for the world of work.
We want to change that. We have already had the opportunity to be a part of IWFM Rising FMs secondary school interviews back in March which was fantastic! The Bridge team helped to conduct interviews with students who are leaving school this year, to encourage them to speak about their skills and future job prospects. It was an extremely rewarding exercise, as many of the young people we spoke to hadn’t had interview experience prior to this, so it was great to be able to offer support and advice for the future.
Here at Bridge, we are passionate about introducing young people to the Facilities Management industry and are always keen on sourcing roles for younger candidates, as it is possible they can bring a different perspective and outlook to the roles in which they are placed.
