Bridge Recruitment Global Recycling Day

Global Recycling Day 2021

Recycling, Global Recycling Day, Sustainability...

Today is Global Recycling Day, an initiative we can all get behind, not just on March 18th but all year round.

Here at Bridge, we all feel strongly about sustainability, recycling and the world in which we live. The last ten years have been the hottest on record, and although the climate change threat has always been there to an extent, it has become more and more prominent in recent years.

That being said, with recycling being recognised in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030, an increasing number of people, governments and organisations are taking a step in the right direction, ultimately saving our planet.

Recycling is a crucial part of our lives and each year saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions. That is expected to rise to one billion tonnes by 2030 and will be proof of how we can change the world for the better (and for generations to come) if we work together.

With the Facilities Management industry being one of the fastest growing professions in the UK, it makes sense that it is also rapidly developing to support sustainable development. With the FM industry focusing on and providing services to the built environment, the safety and wellbeing of our planet comes into play on a daily basis.

Outsourcing and energy services company Mitie recently celebrated its first anniversary of Plan Zero – a commitment to achieving net-zero operational carbon emissions by 2025. This year, the company has set out new targets to achieve including switching all Mitie offices to 100 percent renewable energy and launching a number of services to help customers reduce their own impact on the planet. This is a fantastic idea and one that each and every one of us can make a conscious effort to follow in the path of.

Let’s all work together to make our world a more sustainable one, one step at a time!
