Webinars - how have they helped us in recent times and how could they shape our future?
Chances are, you've already heard of webinars. They've been about for a long time, but since lockdown they've been more popular than ever before and here's why.
Webinars are virtual meetings, making it easier for people to engage with each other if they are connecting from different locations. With the world being put on hold for the past few months, not only have they helped meetings run smoothly, they've also acted as virtual events ensuring people don't miss out on seminars they've had planned for months.
Within the FM industry, there have been a number of events which were due to go ahead in recent months but have had to be cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19. Although, that being said, webinars have made it possible for some to be held virtually. Events such as RICS Strategic FM Conference due to take place on June 16, is going ahead online.
Additionally, IWFM is hosting a number of webinars throughout June so people can still 'attend' and maintain a bit of normality, even though we're all going through a pretty strange time at the moment.
Talking of normal, what if this is our new normal for the future? Webinars were around prior to lockdown but could we see an increase in them now we know they're reliable? We could start to see more and more events being hosted online from now on. They could also be very useful if someone is unable to attend an event on the day, making it easier for them to log on from home. Only time will tell.
