Role Description:

Our client, a well-established organisation based in Takeley, is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional to contribute to a dynamic and growing business.

The Role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will play an integral role in the day-to-day financial operations of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing a high volume of invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end and year-end reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing a high volume of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently

  • Managing staff expense claims, ensuring appropriate authorisations and coding

  • Assisting with the preparation and issue of sales invoices and credit notes

  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies

  • Supporting the management of accounts payable and receivable ledgers

  • Assisting in the collection of outstanding debts

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance and streamline financial processes

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be numerate, organised, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. You will have prior experience in a finance or accounts environment and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks advantageous

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Discretion and integrity in handling confidential financial information

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a finance or accounts role

  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping

  • GCSEs/A Levels (or equivalent), including Mathematics and English
