Government Apprenticeship Scheme
As an incentive for employing more apprentices into the workplace, the government has extended its Apprenticeship Incentive Scheme until May 15th, 2022.
This means that, apprentices with a start date between October 1st, 2021, and January 31st, 2022, applications will open on January 11th next year and will only be available until mid-May.
The government-funded £3000 payment is different to apprenticeship levy funds, in that it can be spent on anything that will support an organisation’s costs, including uniforms, travel or pay for employed apprentices. This is a sum of money that does not have to be paid back. This is on top of the existing £1000 employers will receive if they have taken on an apprentice who is aged 16 to 18 years old, or under 25 and has an education, health and care plan or has been in the care of their local authority.
Applications open on January 11th, 2022 and will close on May 15th, 2022. In order to receive payment, employers must submit a separate application for each apprentice eligible from January 11th.
The types of apprenticeships that are out there are endless, and there are multiple opportunities to put you on the right track to work in the FM industry. They are a fantastic way to give you the experience you need, combining work and learning. Studies show that 75 percent of employers offer a full-time job upon completion of an apprenticeship, and they are available to anyone aged over 16. Apprenticeships can take between 18 and 24 months to complete, so that’s two years of experience to put you in good stead for the career road ahead.
