Hello from the Team at Bridge and Happy World FM Day to you all!

Held every year since 2006, World FM Day aims to celebrate and give recognition to those within the Facilities Management industry, focusing on a different theme each year. This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating FM: Standing Tall Beyond the Pandemic’, one that we can all agree is very apt, considering our shared experiences over the past year.

This time last year, the pandemic was still fairly new to us and our lives both in and out of work had started to change dramatically. It was a worrying and stressful time and working from home was alien to most of us. Fast forward a year and we’ve adapted incredibly well, with some arguing that the work from home life suits them a lot better.

Everything we’ve experienced in the past 12 months has been relatively new. From adapting our homes to suit our work needs, to virtually attending events from the comfort of our living rooms to regular Zoom calls replacing weekly Team meetings – its all second nature to us now.

We’ve also seen members of the FM industry on the frontline throughout the pandemic, working to the best of their ability to ensure others are safe, and we can’t thank them enough for the service they’ve provided in the past year and beyond.

IWFM CEO Linda Hausmanis said: “As we look with hope to the future, we can be proud of the crucial contribution our profession has made as we explore new possibilities beyond the pandemic. We look forward to celebrating our profession standing tall this World FM Day and beyond.”

Although today is the big day, activities and webinars are taking place all week to celebrate, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled! After the year we’ve had, this year is definitely a cause for celebration!
