Today is World FM Day, a day to celebrate the Facilities Management industry worldwide and one that is part of a week of activities and support from companies all over the world.

This year's theme is 'Celebrating our Environment', taking into consideration the industry's positive attitude towards the environment and its ongoing focus on a sustainable world.

World FM Day's aim each year is to acknowledge the efforts of the industry and its leaders in contributing to business all around the world. The annual celebration helps to shine a light on the FM industry and the contributions it makes to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of those operating in such environments.

Duncan Waddell, Chairman of Global FM said: "We recognise that FM professionals have a significant role to play with the environment that we continually seek to minimise impact. As a profession, we want to demonstrate our achievements in the areas of environmental practice where we work in harmony and balance with our world."

Various organisations around the world are doing their bit to help celebrate World FM Day this year. For example, IWFM has developed a number of initiatives to support this year's theme including the launch of their new sustainability hub and several webinars on and following on from the day itself.

So, despite our current global situation, let's all join together (virtually) and share experiences and celebrate our successes. After all, we have a lot to celebrate, don't we?
