One Night Outside: Coming Together to Tackle Homelessness

Leanne Heerey

Some causes are impossible to ignore and homelessness is one of them.

Across Essex and London, far too many people are facing the harsh reality of not having a safe or stable place to call home. It’s an issue that affects individuals, families, and entire communities, and one that deserves both attention and action.

On Friday 10th April, our team will be taking part in a Sleep Out alongside Liberty Hygiene Ltd (B Corp) and HARP at Liberty’s Rayleigh HQ. For one night, we’ll be stepping outside of our daily routines and giving up the comfort of our beds to sleep outdoors, helping to raise awareness and vital funds for those experiencing homelessness.

While a single night outside can never fully reflect the ongoing challenges faced by people without a home, it’s a powerful way to build understanding, spark important conversations, and encourage meaningful support for organisations doing critical work on the ground.

Supporting Real Change with HARP

HARP is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, and their work goes far beyond providing a place to stay. They focus on long-term solutions, offering tailored support, practical guidance, and real pathways to help people rebuild stability, confidence, and independence.

From outreach services that connect with people in need, to supported accommodation and long-term housing solutions, HARP works tirelessly to create lasting change. Their impact is genuinely life-changing, and it’s why we’re so proud to be supporting their mission.

A Night That Makes a Difference

This year’s Sleep Out has an ambitious target of raising £10,000, with every pound going directly towards supporting people in our communities. It’s a collective effort that shows what can be achieved when businesses and individuals come together for a shared purpose.

The event will run from 7pm to 7am and is designed to be both impactful and engaging. The evening will include:

  • A BBQ and live music

  • Fire pits to gather around

  • A powerful and personal talk from someone with lived experience of homelessness, sharing how HARP supported them on their journey

It promises to be a meaningful and memorable night, one that not only highlights the challenges faced by many, but also celebrates the resilience of those who have overcome them and the organisations helping to make that possible.

How You Can Get Involved

If you’d like to join us, you can take part by making a £50 donation or committing to raise £50 in sponsorship. It’s a small commitment that can make a big difference.

If you’re unable to attend on the night, you can still show your support by donating, every contribution, no matter the size, helps fund essential services and support.

One Night vs A Year-Round Reality

For us, this is just one night, a moment to step outside our comfort zones and show our support.

For many, it’s a reality they face every single day.

That’s why initiatives like this matter. They’re not just about fundraising, but about raising awareness, building empathy, and driving long-term change.

We’re proud to stand alongside Liberty Hygiene and HARP in supporting this important cause, and we would love for you to be part of it too.
