Job Overview:

The primary purpose of the Project Accountant is to manage register of customer contracts. With continued exposure to the business, the plan is to assist in the completion and timely distribution of the monthly management accounts & implementation of agreed improvements to processes within the Finance department

The Project Accountant role is based at their Office in Sidcup, Kent, which is a very busy environment at the heart of the Company. The Project Accountant must have good numeracy and literacy skills, excellent communication and organisational skills and a willingness to provide a consistent and professional service at all times whilst working as part of a team. The ability to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and be proactive in your daily approach is essential, as well as flexibility and a strong sense of professionalism. You must be able to deal with all matters and queries in an appropriate manner with tact and diplomacy.

 

Main duties and responsibilities.

  • Development and Maintenance of the ROC (Register of customer Contracts) and associated reports to form basis for Management accounts identifying any changes in contractual portfolio
  • Development of other Excel based forms & dashboards and reports using Macros/Visual Basics
  • Liaise with Regional & London account managers and Sales team to assist with the maintaining of the ROC
  • Working closely with Sales Ledger team to ensure the invoicing mirrors the current ROC and address any queries raised by the Sales Ledger team
  • Continued assessment of current processes / controls to identify areas that may need improvement to add value to the business and implement the agreed changes
  • Maintain timely and consistent communication with geographically dispersed offices
  • Assist with the development and support of systems that support the business
  • With time, the plan is to take on more responsibilities and assist with the management accounts of which the responsibilities will be as below
  • Assist in the preparation and timely distribution of the monthly management accounts to the Directors and Regional Managers to support the running and control of a successful business
  • Assist in the review of all income and costs by contract and Region to ensure all income and costs are correctly classified and are in line with current months trading and within current trends and expectations
  • Assist in the review of gross margins to provide explanations for variances to budgeted and forecasted gross margins
  • Assist in the preparation of the year-end audit and statutory accounts
  • Review financial information within short timescales and identify problems, underlying causes and trends
  • To assist with general office duties including filing, telephone calls etc
  • Ad hoc duties and projects as required by Line Manager

Qualifications and experience:

Requirements

  • Experience working in a similar position
  • Educated to Degree level

 

Skills / Ability

  • Excellent understanding of Excel based forms & dashboards and reports using Macros/Visual Basics
  • Computer literate to an advanced standard (Excel/Visual Basics)
  • Educated to ‘A’ Level or equivalent
  • Part-qualified Accountant or qualified by experience
  • Demonstrable time management and organisational skills
  • Computer literate to an intermediate standard (Word & Outlook)
  • Professional and positive approach
  • Flexible and proactive
  • Able to work as part of a team or on own initiative (self-motivated where necessary)
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
