An exciting new role has arisen within the health care sector. Our client is a leading provider of services to the NHS and private healthcare organisations in England. As a General Manager this role will oversee the running and overall management of this facility.

The contracts annual turnover is in excess of £6 Million. The location has 270 staff and houses 454 patient beds. You will be reporting to the Business Manager and working underneath you will be the assistant manager, domestic supervisor and dining supervisor.

Job Purpose

  • To plan, organise, co-ordinate, control, motivate and train those people within your immediate subordinate team to achieve the business objectives set for and agreed
  • To cover as duty manager as the roster permits
  • To be site Management lead for Infection Control
  • Manage and deliver effective and efficient services that meet contract obligations, KPl's and agreed Trust and company policies and procedures
  • To review and plan innovative service solutions in a vibrant and demanding NHS environment - improved services at lower cost

Skills, Knowledge and Experience


  • 2 - 3 years business management experience at a senior level
  • Proven experience of managing a complex service with a diverse workforce in a customer/patient service environment
  • Proven experience of managing a successful P&L account
  • Ambition and resilience in management and work ethic
  • An effective communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Proven experience of successfully managing client relationships
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Experience of budget management
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be persuasive and decisive
  • Literate in IT


  •  Hospital experience
  • The ability to set standards at every level, providing methods of measurements and undertaking such training or remedial action as appropriate where such standards are not achieved Contract and project management skills
  • Flexibility in approach and attitude
