Role Description:
Our client, a well-established company delivering facilities services to businesses nationwide, is looking to appoint an Environmental and Sustainability Manager to join their team. As Environmental and Sustainability Manager you will be filling a pivotal role for the business, to make a change with regards to Environmental, Social and Governance performance across the company. The ideal Environmental and Sustainability Manager will be a confident individual, liaising with the Head of HSQE Compliance and Governance and guiding the company on their journey to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2030.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring compliance with Environmental Legislation and standards
- Ensuring the company achieves and maintains ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 certification
- Developing, implementing, and executing a proactive monitoring programme, and facilitating external audits by certification bodies and clients
- Investigate environmental incidents and legislation breaches
- Developing and maintaining a framework of environmental/ sustainability policies, procedures and KPI’s to support their commitment to Net Zero
- Reporting to key stakeholders on progress against objectives and communicating future improvement opportunities
- Carbon data collecting, monitoring and performance reporting
- Attending key stakeholder meetings and presenting performance data
- Coaching managers and colleagues to fully engage and actively promote a culture of safety and sustainability
Requirements:
- Knowledge of key technical aspects of sustainability, e.g. carbon management/ foot printing, biodiversity, climate change, social investment, reporting and metrics
- Extensive understanding of relevant environmental regulatory standards and the process of implementation
- Work effectively within a diverse and complex operational business structure
- Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation
- Experience of delivering projects to time, working independently or as part of a team
- Relevant qualification for Sustainability/ Environmental/ Earth Sciences and/or career experience
- Member of IEMA/ CIWM / WAMITAB
- Candidates who are working towards the relevant qualifications and professional body membership will be considered for the role
