Role Description:

Bridge Recruitment are currently networking for a Building Services Engineer to join the Team of one of our clients, an educational site in South London which is part of a wider Trust of teaching establishments across the UK. As Building Services Engineer you will be required to carry out maintenance of the heating and ventilation systems and associated plants, as well as assisting in gas and electricity services. The ideal Building Services Engineer would ideally have the relevant qualifications listed below, and a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist the Hard Services Manager in providing an efficient and safe working environment and be able to respond in a proactive way to emergency situations

  • To assist in maintaining efficient catering equipment in the College’s kitchens

  • Operation and maintenance of heavy electrical/mechanical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment including large supply and exhaust fans and motors and associated water-cooled chiller units

  • Maintenance of gas fired LTHW boiler plant

  • Ensure the correct operation of gas and electric catering appliances in teaching and non-teaching kitchens

  • Operation and maintenance of large, compressed air plant pneumatic control systems

  • Ensure the implementation of Health & Safety procedures as required by legislation and codes of practice; or instructions in the College for all electrical/mechanical installations and other services as required

  • Ensure positive action is taken in emergency situations

  • For Health & Safety reasons being available for weekend working to carry out essential planned maintenance operations

  • Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required by the Hard Services Manager and commensurate with the grading post

  • To take a proactive role in enhancing the reputation of the College

  • Participate in any College staff review/performance management processes involving the identifying and meeting of training needs for self

  • Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heating and Ventilation, Engineering, Electrical part 1 - Essential

  • Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation - Essential

  • Knowledge of Trend BMS Control Systems - Desirable

  • Five years' experience in servicing of heating and ventilation systems and catering equipment - Essential

  • Experience in pipe fitting and plumbing - Essential

  • General electrical experience skills - Essential
