Role Description:
Bridge are currently networking to appoint a Cleaning Supervisor to join the team of one of our clients in the FM and cleaning industry. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cleaning Supervisor, who will be operating in a retail environment, and will be responsible for the day-to-day compliance of cleaning responsibilities on site. The ideal Cleaning Supervisor will have knowledge of the cleaning industry, will have experience of supervising a team and will have an understanding of COSHH.

Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Contract Manager, review work performance of the cleaning team to ensure the required standards are met on a daily basis
  • Monitor performance standards for the site daily
  • Demonstrate exceptionally high levels of customer service 
  • Ensure staffing levels are in line with the contractual agreement, supporting the recruitment function as required
  • Advise the Contract Manager of stock levels and uniform requirements for the site
  • Report time keeping issues to the Contract Manager
  • Ensure that proper and accurate records are maintained for all consumable stock items
  • Ensure that the Contract Manager is informed of all matters that are of interest or concern as soon as possible
  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with contractors to the site and site retailers
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current H&S legislation
  • Ensure that incidents are reported promptly by cleaning operatives in line with company procedure, and ensure that the Contract Manager is advised of all incidents
  • Support the Contract Manager in holiday management for the cleaning team, providing cover as required
  • Ensure equipment issues are reported in a timely manner and that regular inspections are carried out
  • Ensure operators understand the cleaning specification and are compliant in the completion of specified tasks
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members
  • Motivate individuals to achieve required standards
  • Deliver on the centre’s standards and expectations
  • Conduct training for the cleaning team, ensuring refresher training is conducted periodically
  • Maintain training records
  • Ensure all team operators receive quarterly appraisals in line with company policy
  • Any other duties as directed by the Contract Manager
  • Conduct interviews in line with Company Recruitment procedure
  • Carry out inductions with new colleagues and training, maintaining all records
  • Monitor absences and conduct return to work interviews 
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews with the cleaning team and annual appraisals
  • Maintain accurate records such as time and attendance 
  • Confidentially dispose of all paper copies of new starter documentation using a shredder / confidential waste
  • Deal with employee relation issues in line with company procedure
  • Be responsible for embedding a risk aware culture at site level
  • Conduct risk assessments for colleagues
  • Communicate the importance of reducing risk by explaining the implications for / to the individual, customer and company

Requirements:

  • Experience of supervising a cleaning team
  • Ability to work and integrate in an already established team
  • Understanding and experience of COSHH
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods
  • Experience in cleaning specification compliance
  • Staff development and appraisal. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to balance priorities and workloads
  • Ability to act decisively and remain calm under pressure
  • Effective networker and relationship developer, who can contribute to a team-based culture
  • Ability to champion, support and deliver business initiatives
  • Report writing / presentation skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility
