Role Description:

Bridge Recruitment are currently networking for a Business Development Manager to join the Team of one of our clients, a leading company within the cleaning supply industry. As Business Development Manager you will be responsible for maintaining and developing new and existing customers while identifying potential customers. The ideal Business Development Manager will have at least two years experience as a BDM, Sales Manager or Account Manager with experience of working in a team-orientated environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods, and relevant internal liaison, to optimise quality of service, business growth and customer satisfaction

  • Identify key potential customers and ensure introductions are made

  • Research and identify new sales opportunities through multiple prospecting techniques, including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services, or new ways of reacting of reaching existing markets

  • Communicate and explore/develop sales leads with existing and potential new customers

  • Target customers across all sectors to win new business

  • Visit and develop potential new and existing accounts to enhance sales

  • Have a good understanding of company products and services and be able to advise customers about them

  • Deliver presentations on company products and services

  • Manage pricing and margins according to agreed aims

  • Effective networking with potential customers

  • Produce a weekly report on activity and provide results

  • Attend seminars, conferences and trade shows

  • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information

  • Ensure the National Accounts policy and procedures are adhered to

  • Ensure all internal customer relationship management tools are maintained and updated and Sales Team are compliant with GDPR policy and procedures

  • Work closely and build relationships with Sales Team, customers, members, Head Office and Sales and Marketing Committee to promote sales and encourage collaboration, growth and innovation

  • Attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development

  • Attend company Committee Meetings for the purpose of active participation

The successful applicant:

  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills

  • Proven track record of results with a high level of business acumen

  • Articulate and able to influence effectively

  • Ability to demonstrate good numeracy and IT skills

  • Energetic, persuasive, well organised and team orientated

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years continuous experience as a BDM or Sales Manager or Account Manager but not exclusively within the Cleaning and Hygiene Industry

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships with clients

  • Excellent telephone manner for making initial contact and for ongoing communication with customers and business associates

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Flexible approach to work schedule and adaptability to last minute change. Ability to change direction from time to time as the business drivers/focus change to meet market demands

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including online facilitation and presentation skills, enthusiasm and positive attitude

  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

  • Highly self-motivated with an ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
