Role Description: 

Our Client is the largest Local Authority Trading Company in the UK, offering a wide range of services including facilities management, environmental and property services, and care. The Group operates a large number of partnerships with public sector organisations, ensuring their clients receive a professional, reliable and customer centric service across all disciplines including cleaning and facilities management.

As major drivers in innovation, they are constantly developing and increasing their business portfolio. To ensure the continuing growth of their extensive cleaning and FM pipeline, they are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager, primarily based out of their offices in Kent however, the position will cover opportunities across the south east of England and into London.

In this position, you will lead the client engagement and sales process for all local clients, undertaking a number of duties including;

  • Bringing new business to the group in line with the divisional growth plan
  • Managing new business opportunities through all stages of the sales process, including prospecting, business scoping, client management, tender submission and mobilisation
  • Working with the operational delivery and business management teams to deliver client focussed service offerings that are commercially profitable
  • Continuing to develop existing client partnerships to ensure long-term engagement and retention of service delivery

The Successful Candidate: 

It is essential that you have experience within a cleaning, or soft FM services sales environment, being able to demonstrate knowledge of the industry. This industry knowledge and experience will be combined with:

  • Significant B2B sales experience in a business development, account management or field sales role
  • Experience engaging with a variety of clients within the public and private sector
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inform, persuade and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with a number of clients
  • Customer-centric approach to sales, with the ability to understand the needs of a client and tailor a service offering respectively
  • Confidence when presenting a variety of information to a diverse audience
  • Knowledge of preparing and managing a formal bid or tender process would be an advantage
  • Due to the travel requirements of the position, you will need to hold a full UK driving license
