Job Overview:

Based in Buckinghamshire, our client is an established provider of Facilities Management services. A market leader in their field, they provide a diverse range of tailored cleaning services. Applications for the position of Bid Writer are invited from candidates with extensive experience within the FM / Soft Services sector. This is an opportunity to join a highly ambitious business with plans in place to grow their revenues.

Main duties and responsibilities

This Bid Writer role will include a variety of tasks including the following:

Responsibilities

  • Develop and introduce all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes
  • Develop and coordinate the delivery of an effective Bid Plan throughout the bid lifecycle
  • Manage the preparation of multiple tenders associated with commercial cleaning
  • Lead, manage and motivate a team of Bid Coordinators
  • Manage the bid qualification (bid go / no go) process for new opportunities
  • Plan and manage the completion of selection questionnaires and tender submissions through the various stages of the procurement process
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing to be included within bid submissions
  • Build and maintaining an effective bid library
  • Conduct a thorough review of bid documents including legal contracts identifying any areas of business risk
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all contractual requirements and obligations across tenders and negotiate contracts in line with an acceptable risk profile
  • Quantify and document variations with clients and take ownership of the change control process throughout the bid lifecycle
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-over, project closing meetings when required
  • Produce tender-related monthly reports including metrics and commentary for circulation to the Sales Director and the Senior Leadership Team
  • Attend Senior Leadership Team meetings

Essential Skills / Ability

  • A track record of successful tendering / project cost control management
  • Exceptional leadership and team building abilities to develop and maintain internal/external relationships
  • Resilience and the ability to cope with the pressure associated with the need to continuously achieve deadlines associated with bids and tenders
  • Strong business acumen
  • Highly developed analytical skills (reporting and interpretation)
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and databases
  • Excellent communications skills
