Role Description:
Our client, a highly reputable company within the cleaning and support services sector, is looking to appoint an Area Manager to join their team. Established in 1983, this company has grown continuously, becoming one of the UK's most successful independently owned cleaning companies. As Area Manager, you will be responsible for 32 sites with a ranging number of cleaners associated to each site. The successful Area Manager will ideally have experience in a similar role or industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage 32 sites in total, ranging from one-cleaner sites to larger sites with approximately 15 cleaners – cleaning will be predominantly carried out in the evening, with some early morning and afternoon
  • Liaise with a mixture of clients from multiple backgrounds – leisure, education and offices
  • Regularly visit and liaise with clients assigned to the area - obtain feedback on performance through signed Client Comment Cards
  • Forward feedback on to upper management, and action where necessary
  • Carry out site inspection to assess quality of cleaning, ensuring all aspects comply with company policies and procedures
  • Translate any areas of concern to cleaning staff, and resolve efficiently
  • Manage cleaners and assess their performance
  • Monitor staffing levels, managing sickness, absences and ensure cover is always available
  • Recruitment within area
  • Produce monthly wage returns to set budget
  • Producing monthly stores orders to budget
  • Respond to and rectify any customer concerns maintaining client satisfaction efficiently and to the highest standard
  • Organise onsite induction training and any other required training, in terms of changing legislation
  • Arrange BICS training for Supervisors and Cleaning Operatives on site
  • Implement enhanced DBS checks for all new staff

Requirements:

  • Must have a proven track record working as a Manager in a similar environment
  • Must live in the local area
  • Have a hands-on approach to work, with the ability to use own initiative where necessary
  • Be able to work with a range of clients, form differing sectors
  • Be trained to BICS level 1 and 2 standard
  • Proactive, with a focus on adding value to existing contracts and generating new business
  • Be reactive when necessary and be prepared to get involved with all aspects of your role
